Welcome to Revel: Where Aesthetics Meet Identity
Nov 28, 2025
If we haven’t met — I’m Kristi.
I earned my PhD in Consumer & Design Sciences from Auburn University, and I’m now an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Textiles & Apparel at UT Austin — where I teach courses such as The Social Psychology of Dress and Aesthetic Theory & Practice.
In my classes, we explore the psychology of dress and why the aesthetic choices we make — in both our appearance (clothing, hairstyle, makeup, piercings, tattoos, grooming) and our environments — shape how we feel and how we’re perceived, often long before we speak.
My work examines how appearance and environments influence impression formation, self-esteem, self-worth, identity, and how the elements and principles of design, and even brand symbolism quietly communicate who we are — to ourselves and to others.
But you don’t need to be in my classroom to apply these insights.
I created Revel to bring the science of aesthetics into everyday life — so we can use this knowledge as a tool to intentionally cultivate alignment, confidence, and clarity around our authentic identity.
If you’ve ever felt like your appearance or surroundings don’t fully reflect who you are — or who you’re becoming — you’re in the right place.
Here, we’ll explore how to build an aesthetic identity that supports your growth, your goals, and your evolution — with clarity, intention, and meaning.
I’m grateful you’re here, and I’m looking forward to what we create together.
With Love, K
